The main goal of the scientific method is to make the research as objective as possible and to reduce the tendentious interpretation of the results. Another important goal is to document, archive and share data and methodology so that they are available for careful review by other scientists, enabling them to verify the results, try to reproduce them independently, or to establish the degree of their statistical reliability.
Science in the broadest sense of the word existed before the modern age, in many historical civilizations, but modern science is so strict in its approach and successful in its results that it defines what science is in the most accurate sense of the word. Much earlier than the modern era, another important turning point was the development of classical natural philosophy in the ancient Greek world.
Science in its original sense is a word that means a type of knowledge, not a specialized word for the exercise of such knowledge. In particular, it is one of the types of knowledge that people can share or communicate with each other. For example, data and knowledge about the workings of natural things in nature were collected long before written history existed. They led to the development of abstract thinking, as evidenced by the creation of complex calendars, techniques for processing poisonous plants, and the construction of buildings such as the pyramids. However, there is a lack of consistency, systematicity and distinction from the knowledge of these things, which are true in any society on the one hand and other types of knowledge such as mythology and legal systems on the other.
Before the discovery of the concept of nature by philosophers before Socrates, the same words were used to describe the natural way in which a plant grows or the way in which a tribe worships a particular god. For this reason, it is claimed that these people were the first philosophers in the narrow sense of the word, as well as the first people to make a clear distinction between "nature" and "convention." Science emerges as the study of nature and the things that apply to any community, and the specialized and purposeful search for such knowledge is called philosophy - the realm of the first philosophers-physicists. They are mostly theorists who are particularly and especially interested in astronomy.
